Leaving Vermont

Arriving at the house at 2 AM after a long drive home from Burlington, followed by a 6 AM wake up for a morning run with Simon Aborn, I've arrived upon my last day in Vermont. Today was finally a nice cool morning (which I should start getting used to considering I'm heading into winter). The run at the rec park was beautiful with the sun rising over the Green Mountains. I'm not really sure how to feel right now. I've been so eager to arrive in Coyhaique since the day that I found out that's where I'll be headed, I seem to have forgotten that in t-minus five hours I'll be leaving my home, all my friends, and the dear school I've grown up in behind.

I don't leave America until August 1st. However, my family is going on a little last hoo-rah vacation that starts at 1 today and ends at Albany airport. Our vacation line-up goes as follows: Malta, NY, Lake Placid, NY, Syracuse, NY, Niagara Falls, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Sea Bright, NJ, NYC, Malta again, and finally Albany International airport. Let's just hope my family can survive that long in the car without killing each other!

Throughout our trip I am going to try to post a couple updates on our trip, as it is kind of the start of my year away from home, but for now I will give you the update on my plan once I leave Albany. I will be flying out of Albany airport on the morning of the 1st. I will land in Atlanta about two hours later where I will hop on another plane which will take me to Santiago in a whopping 10 hours. Last time I was on an international flight (to Peru) I watched two Channing Tatum movies and an Adele concert. Although it will be hard to peel my eyes away from the last five minutes of The Vow I hope I am strong-willed enough to read Game of Thrones. From Santiago I will meet a group of other exchange students--the number of kids is TBD--and we will get on a connecting flight to Concepción where we will have a three day orientation. On the morning of August the 5th I will get on a plane that will take me to Balmaceda (Balmaceda's airport is called the BBA Airport, the irony), where my family will pick my up and my real journey begins.

I hope to continue this blog with a post at least once a month and at the most once a week. If you are bored during your year at all please check in and see the crazy adventures I will be on. I will also be linking to my photo blog where I will have all my pictures from my trip.

Hasta Luego,
